Today CD Projekt held the fifth and final episode of their Night City Wire show for Cyberpunk 2077. Here’s what went down and there’s lots of new footage to enjoy.
This week they talk about facial animation, the game’s musical score, plenty of Silverhand appearances with some behind the scenes with Keanu Reeves.
The interview with Reeves really helps in explaining the Silberhand character and how CD Projekt draws the player into the world and story. CD Projekt went through a long process when deciding who would play Silverhand, everyone from other actors to a deceased rock star was on the table. Eventually, they arrived at Reeves as being the number one choice to play the part.
Silverhand is considered a co-protagonist and not a sidekick. Both V and Johnny have their own goals in the game and there’s some crossover between each of their agendas.
The game’s original score and radio stations was not easy, they needed to create audio that would bring an em0tional connection to the game. They took elements from 80s music adding a 90s flare. Every quest is scored with custom assets for those quests so you can expect the music to switch around depending on where you are in the city and what you are actually doing. You can expect something quite special.
For content creators, there’s a new mode that will allow players to remove copyrighted tracks when recording videos to stop videos being flagged. This is a really cool feature because let’s face it, it’s the most annoying thing when your content gets flagged once uploaded.
Jali facial animation was once again on show and we’ve seen this tech before in a previous update from Jali. Using this tech the lip-synching is pretty impressive and Jali has saved animators a lot of time.
In-game rewards will be available for players to unlock in-game items. For example, link your GOG account and you’ll get rewards. More details on what’s on offer will be available soon.
Now on with the new trailer which is quite outstanding and you can watch each of the segments from this episode of Night City Wire below.
