The first Cyberpunk 2077 patch will be released at launch and we now know a little more about it and who will have to wait for it to download.
The patch will only become available when the game unlocks if you are on a PC. For PC gamers you can’t preload the patch, you will have to grab it after the midnight launch time. Fortunately, the patch is not too large weighing in at between 2-3 Gb. If you purchased it on GOG, the patch will only be a few 100Mb.
So yes, even though it hits midnight there will still be a little more waiting while the patch downloads.
It’s all good if you are on consoles though, you can start playing as the clock hits midnight. Console gamers have the patch already preloaded onto their systems. There is an exception for boxed console copies (see below).
There are no details on what has actually been fixed in this update as yet. There were quite a few bugs in the press version of the game so hopefully, they have been fixed up now.
Note on Cyberpunk 2077 Patch for Boxed Versions
If the game was purchased as a boxed copy on PC or Xbox, the game and Day 0 patch will download at the same time totaling a 60-75 Gb download.
Playstation boxed copy owners will have the game and Day 0 patch download separately with making it a total of 110Gb
‼️ #Cyberpunk2077 preload on consoles includes Day 0 update & the game should unlock at midnight (respective time zone) without additional downloads.
On PC, (1AM CET) GOG players will have to download a few hundreds mb while for Steam/Epic gamers it will be around 2-3 gigs. ‼️
